Metabolic Syndrome - Causes of Obesity
There is a condition called metabolic syndrome which is caused by the body’s resistance to insulin. Insulin is a hormone which is produced by the pancreas. This hormone controls your blood sugar levels. However, if you have a poor diet, take little or no exercise or are carrying excess weight especially around the waist then you are at risk of this condition.
It is actually a set of risk factors rather than a defined condition but either way, it can cause your pancreas to produce excess insulin which in turn builds up in the bloodstream. This can lead to Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
