Inherited factors that Cause Obesity
It can be the case that obesity is an inherited trait. If your family contains members who are obese then there is a good chance that you could be the same. This is not automatic however. It will probably mean that you are prone to putting weight on easily but it doesn’t mean that you will be obese.
If you have grown up in a family where your parents are overweight or obese then there is a strong chance that you will have inherited the same traits. These traits which control fat storage, appetite regulation and the amount of energy used will determine your metabolic rate. If any of the immediate members of your family have a slow metabolism then there is strong chance that you will have the same.
Another factor is that of bad eating habits. If your family tends to consume large amounts of junk food and/or take no exercise then this behaviour can be passed down.
